Jay Ellis Faces BACKLASH From Insecure Fans UPSET About Him Having A White Wife | What's Brewing?
Jan 18, 2023What’s Brewing? Today we're diving into a situation surrounding Jay Ellis and a controversial pic that was posted on the Shade Room. Trust me; you don’t want to miss this one because you are not gonna believe what people had to say about what recently happened at the 2023 Golden Globe Awards. But for those unaware of who Jay Ellis is, let me provide a little background information.
Hailing from Sumter, South Carolina, Jay Ellis made his mark in the entertainment biz starting off as a model before transitioning to acting. He's had roles in shows like "The Game," "How I Met Your Mother" and "The Hills" but it was his portrayal of Lawrence on "Insecure" that really put him on the map. But he ain't just a pretty face on screen, he also flexes his creative muscle behind the camera as a director and producer for indie films. Off-camera, he's known for giving back through charitable causes and being active in his community. Jay Ellis is the total package, a magnetic personality, undeniable talent, and undeniable charisma; he's a force to be reckoned with in the entertainment industry.
Despite his charm and success, it looks like Jay isn’t immune to the internet's watchful eye. A couple years back, Jay found himself in hot water after details about him and his fiance having a daughter leaked. It turns out, Jay had been seeing a white actress, Nina Senicer, for years and kept it under wraps until it became public knowledge. The revelation caused a major stir in the black community as they were upset that he decided to have a child with a woman who is white instead of someone who is black. The situation took such a toll on Jay that he was forced to temporarily take a break from social media.
Flash forward to present day, and Jay's back in the spotlight after a picture of him and his wife at the 80th Golden Globes in California surfaced on The Shade Room. Unfortunately, the couple were met with immediate backlash from members of the black community once again in the comments section.
For example this women asking “dang, why she couldn't be black?”
Next, another commenter followed with, "what did Umar say again?", referencing Dr. Umar Johnson's controversial views on interracial marriages, specifically about black men dating white women. He's been known to call it the "snow body crisis" due to the belief that it perpetuates economic inequality, as he claims women typically marry up and that a white woman doesn't deserve a good black man when so many black women are suffering. Let me know in the comments what you think of Dr. Umar’s stance on interracial marriage.
Following that female commenter chimes in with "typical black man, nothing new here.”
Another woman added to the conversation and said, "I just don't understand how you can be a main cast member on such a meaningful show featuring the black and African American community and not want to continue that off-screen.”
I guess its safe to say these last few commenters did not like this coffee.
Our last comment comes from a black woman who surprisingly took the time to come to Jay's defense, saying: "What's y'all problem? It's his life. He's not going to live it to please y'all. His personal life and preferences are none of your business. This notion that black men must be with black women in the name of culture is nuts. How about y'all apply that same energy when it's a black woman with a white man?”
So, that's where we stand. But now, I'm curious to hear your thoughts. Has Jay done something wrong here? Or, is he allowed to date whoever he chooses, regardless of their skin color, ethnicity or nationality?
